4749香港铁算盘 The Venue Search Take Two

Now armed with much more information about what kind of wedding each of us wanted, Mr. A and I sat down for a REAL guest list and budget talk. We decided on a 100 person guest list with cocktails, dinner, and dancing,马会论坛!!, thus eliminating the 75 person max Adelphi Mill. We visited a few of the higher end PG County Park locations (Prince George’s Ballroom, Newton White Mansion, Oxon Hill Manor), but they all required finding caterers and renting pretty much everything in addition to the venue rental cost. That is when we came to the decision that we wanted a place that was all inclusive.

Our next stop (and our family’s suggestion) was Martin’s Caterers, a pretty popular option for weddings, proms, banquets, and charity balls in our area. Mr. A calls it “The Wedding Factory” since they pump out so many events in one evening, but he was willing to go on a tour of the facilities. Martin’s has two beautiful locations near us: Crosswinds and Camelot. As the name suggests, Camelot is a medieval, King Arthur themed venue, so we eliminated that one pretty early. But Crosswinds almost had my heart.

We were quoted a VERY reasonable price for 100 guests to include appetizers, buffet or plated dinner, open bar, venue costs, linens, wedding cake, and gratuity. It seemed like a great deal, but we weren’t quite convinced. After reading a few reviews about guests hearing other events in the adjoining ballrooms (like we experienced at the Washington Navy Yard) and realizing how strict the wedding timeline had to be, we decided to keep looking. I told Mr. A if we didn’t find anything else that could give us flexibility in a wedding day timeline, while also including all the things Crosswinds had, we would go back to Crosswinds and pick our date.

And that is when we found Patuxent Greens Golf Course. When we visited, they had just completed a remodel of their banquet facilities, and they were relaunching their services as a wedding venue. So we received a pretty good deal that included just about everything Crosswinds offered. But two things really sold us on this venue:

They only book one event per day, so the entire location is available to us for the entire day. We were able to pick our start and end times, schedule early set up times to allow our friendors to get into the venue to decorate, and we did not have to worry about hearing another wedding next door. Every staff member at the golf course was extremely helpful in answering our MANY questions. They customized a package specifically for us that included everything we were quoted from Crosswinds. The price per person came out a little more expensive than Crosswinds, though, but it was worth it to us to avoid the feeling of “the wedding factory.”

We were both satisfied with the mix of a private event location with all inclusive packaging, and so we walked back into the office about a week after our initial visit and we put our deposit down for our date. We were their first 2015 booking!

Did you go back and forth between two venue decisions? What made you choose your perfect wedding location?
